Urges don't just live in your mind—they live in your body. Somatic (body-based) practices can break the cycle faster than thought alone.
Why the Body?
Urges often show up as tightness, restlessness, or pressure in the body. If you shift the energy physically, the mental craving weakens.
Quick Somatic Interrupts
- Push-ups or wall sits for 1 minute
- Shake out your whole body for 30 seconds
- Cold shower or splash of water
- Box breathing (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4)
Next time an urge builds, move first, think second. The body can reset the brain.
